2010
On 4th July 2010, the Japanese community residing in Jakarta gathered and organized the first Ennichisai Festival in Little Tokyo, Melawai, Blok M, on 4th July 2010. This 1 day event drew more than 50,000 visitors.
2011
The 2nd year Ennichisai Festival was held on 09 & 10 July 2011. Not only the event extended from 1 day to 2 days event, the event area became 2 times larger with 2 stages (Traditional & Modern). The 2 days event enjoyed a crowed of 170,000 visitors for 2 days. The event was appointed as an official Jakarta event by the Mayor of South Jakarta.
2012
After the devastating earthquake of 2011, Japan received many kind help from Indonesia. With deep gratitude, the theme for Ennichisai 2012 was "ARIGATO KOKORO NO TOMO", which translates to " THANK YOU, TRUE FRIEND". (kokoro=heart, tomo=friend)
* "Kokoro no Tomo" is a song, sang by Itsuwa Mayumi in the 80's, and to this day, remains to be one of the most famous Japanese song in Indonesia.
Ennichisai was hel for 2 days on 30 June & 01 July 2013.
The event had an astonishing 200,000 visitors.
